So, here’s a new interesting take on fishing from a boat that you might want to check out. It’s called the :HELM.

Granted, it’s a fairly interesting evolution on mounting an old fishing reel to your pushpit. I’m impressed by the design. It’s obvious that a lot of work and thought went into this product. The question remains is it an evolutionary step forward? Or is it a one-step forward two-steps back situation in the real world of fishing from a sailboat?
The real nitty gritty; is it worth its €399.99 ($461) price tag? You can put together a simple handline for $20-30 bucks.
Personally, I actually like the concept. It’s simple, doesn’t take up a lot of space, has a drag system, and the hand-friendly rope retrieve is genius. That said, being a frugal cruiser I won’t be buying one anytime soon unless I win the lottery.
